About Ari Rasilainen
Biography

Ari Rasilainen is a distinguished Finnish conductor and violinist, acclaimed for his expressive artistry and deep musical insight. Born in Helsinki, he began his career as a violinist with the Finnish Radio Symphony and Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestras before turning to conducting under the guidance of Jorma Panula and Arvid Jansons.
A prize-winner at the Nicolai Malko International Conducting Competition, Rasilainen has led many of Europe’s foremost orchestras, including the Norwegian Radio Orchestra, Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz, and Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie Konstanz, as well as major ensembles across Scandinavia, Central Europe, and beyond. His repertoire spans symphonic and operatic works, and his extensive discography of over 70 recordings reflects a wide and distinctive musical vision.
Since 2011, Ari Rasilainen has been Professor of Conducting at the University of Music Würzburg, where he continues to inspire the next generation of conductors.
